About Me

I am 48 and live in Bel Air, MD.  I live with my wonderful husband Carl and our 3 kitties, Lucy, Houdini and Ernie.  I have a stepdaughter, daughter and three grand kids. I was a single parent for most of my daughters youth.  I have been in the US Army, worked in the Mortgage Industry for 20+ years, drove a tractor-trailer cross country.  Never liking sport activities, who would have thought that at 44 years old I would begin riding a bicycle and actually fall in love with it.  In October 2004 my husband and I looked at each other and said “we’re fat”.  We joined a local gym and I stayed as far away from the spin class as I could possibly get!  My husband loved it and encouraged me to join him.  I fought it the whole way.   The more classes I took the more I enjoyed it.  I had not been on a bicycle since I was about 6.  My husband bought my first road bike in February, 2005.  I had no clue what to do.  You want me to do what?  Use Clip less peddles! lean over the bar, I’m fat! NO WAY, NOT ME.   I soon discovered that I loved riding on the road,  the view of this world from the seat of a bicycle is awesome.   I have criss crossed this beautiful country since I was a little girl.   So I’ve seen what this country has to offer, up close and personal.  The view from a bike is the best.   The people I have met along the way are incredible. My husband and I have traveled from Maryland to New Hampshire to California and in between to ride our bike  I finally got fit,  lost a bunch of weight and have gone through hand injuries to disc injury.  Not to give up, even after my docs said to.  Giving up has never been an option.  After getting back on the bike after the last injury, I finally discovered my “niche” in the world of bicycling.  It’s not going as fast as I can, It’s not being first up that hill, it’s not having the flashiest jersey, the lightest bike or the fastest bike. I just want to ride my bike and enjoy every minute of it.  There is a whole world out there to see on a bike.  WIth this blog, I want to tell about my bicycle adventures, my fit issues, the wonderful and sometimes not so wonderful people out there.  The places I’ve been on a bike and the places I want to see on a bike.  I have wanted to share this for quite a while, now with my husband’s encouragement I am. So, let’s go Ride our Bike…..
